WE'VE BEEN HIT!!!!!

The Phantom Ghost STRIKES!!!

Sunday night we were the victims of the above mentioned "phantom ghost!" We heard a knock and when we opened the door ... NO ONE WAS THERE! ooooo!!!! The only evidence that we have of the Phantom Ghost is a plate of cupcakes and .... THIS!!!
In order to be safe from harm and further attacks from the Phantom Ghost, we had to hang this on our doors and pay it forward to two other families... keeping it a secret of course. But the bigger catch was that we only had ONE night to do this!!! The game was on!! David and I spent our FHE making sugar cookies and decorating them in preparation for the terrifying attack that would occur later that night...

Yes. These delicious cookies were made from scratch. Yes. David and I just happen to be amazing cookie decorators. Yes. This plate was recycled from the cupcakes that we received Sunday Night....

After we finished decorating our spooky cookies, we covered ourselves in black attire and headed out. We already knew which families we were going to "hit" ... but we had to be quick and inconspicuous to the rest of the residents in the Meadows. The first house went according to plan. I hid behind one building, and David ding-dong-ditched house #1 and ran! The second drop off didn't go so smoothly. It's simple... just drop off the cookies, ring the doorbell, and run! I did the first two steps OK, but after I rang the doorbell I heard huge MONSTROUS dogs BARK like I was about to attack. I inevitably panicked. Instead of running AWAY from the building, I ran AROUND the building. Oh crap. I was stuck here for a good 5 minutes. Which might not seem like a long time. But felt like an eternity. David had already ran away from the building. So by the time I had mustered up the guts to move from my position, I tried to search for David in the dark. I was unsuccessful. We had lost each other. IN THE MEADOWS!!

I thought that it was an unspoken rule that if we got split up to go back home and wait for the other. So I went home... but David wasn't there!! I decided to get in the car and see if I could find him, about 1/4 mile up the road, all of a sudden I see this figure running towards my car at a full sprint. My cute husband. :) I think that by the end of our Phantom Ghost attempt, we were not as inconspicuous as we had hoped. Oh well... it sure was fun! and hopefully our families enjoyed their cookies! (Because we sure did!)

Thank you, Mom!

Last night David and I went to go see Inception again at the cheap theater in town (even BETTER the second time around), we came home, pulled out our dominoes, played until midnight and crashed on our couches. WELL... this probably wasn't the best idea that we have ever had because we woke up at about 9:45... and church is at NINE!!! We panicked. But then had an idea... let's find another church building (because there are approximately 15 in Rexburg ...) and attend their sacrament meeting.

We attended the fast and testimony meeting of a little ward on the outskirts of town. It was such a different meeting than we were used to... it was quiet!! Our ward has 60 kids in the nursery... so sacrament is always loud. This ward consisted of a lot of older couples and a handful of younger ones. A deacon went up and bore his testimony. The testimony that this young deacon gave, was one of the most amazing testimonies I have ever heard. The young man went to the pulpit and told us, very bluntly, that every person in that meeting underappreciated one precious gift that Heavenly Father had given to us ... our mothers. I was shocked. He went on to thank his mother for every thing (big or small) that she did. He then counseled us to go home and tell our mothers how much they mean to us and how much we love them.

Well, I know that my mother doesn't hear it enough... she is completely wonderful in every possible way. I am so privaleged to have her as my mother. With her love for aliens, ghosts, bigfoot, and anything else paranormal, she opened up my imagination and taught me how much more fun it is to believe in things that may or may not exist, rather than to not believe in them at all. She taught me how to listen and how to comfort. My mom probably hears from every one of her five kids daily about the problems that they are faced with... and she never complains. She listens, comforts, and also gives her advice. She gave me my love for scary movies and other "eerie" things. My fondest memories growing up consist of sitting in her bed, watching the X Files, and eating popcorn. She is completely selfless and will do anything for her children and grandchildren. Whenever my niece, Ryann, goes over to their house, all she wants to do is sit and watch Barney and eat popcorn with Grandma. When I see them together, I remember all of the times that mom and I did the exact same thing. My mom is my best friend and I can't wait until we are back in WA again so that I can see her more than twice a year! I am so grateful for my mom. I love her more than anything. So thank you, mom, for everything that you are and everything that you taught me. I wouldn't be the person that I am today without you.
